One word:  Hilarious!  If you’re looking for an entertaining evening, this is it.  And you get a decent pasta meal for the price of admission.

Chances are that you’ve already heard of Tony N’ Tina’s Wedding.  The show has been around since 1988.  It had a long 16 year run in Chicago at Piper’s Alley from 1993 through 2009.

I have to admit that this is my first time.  Although I planned to see it on several occasions, I never made it.

The show has returned to Chicago with performances through April 29, 2017.  The show begins with a ceremony at Resurrection Church (3309 Seminary… Northeast corner of Seminary and School).   The ceremony lasts around 45 minutes.  It actually starts before you enter the church with cast members mingling with the crowd in character.  At the end of the ceremony everyone walks about a block and half south to the ‘Vinnie Black’s Coliseum’ (Chicago Theater Works) located at 1113 W. Belmont.

In short, the show is about a mock wedding of Anthony Angelo Nunzio Jr. and Valentina Lynne Vitale.  The show’s appeal is that it makes fun of the 80’s tackiness and stereotypes.  It all starts with bad jokes, big hair, too-much make-up, and loud relatives.

As you would expect in a typical wedding, Anthony and Valentina have a band that plays many of the big hits of the 80’s.  Guests are encouraged to join the wedding party on the dance floor.  The dance floor gets packed. For a second you feel like you’re really at a friend’s wedding party.

The actors were amazing!  They did a great job of pulling the audience into the event.  Based on a quick scan of the guests, it was clear that everyone was having a great time.

This is on my highly recommend list.  Enjoy!
